Things to Avoid While in Thailand

Dress modestly when visiting temples: wear long pants or skirts and tops with sleeves, and remove your shoes before entering.

Avoid touching monks, especially women, as it’s considered disrespectful.

Don’t point your feet at people or sacred objects, as this gesture is seen as impolite.

Refrain from touching people’s heads, as the head is considered the most sacred part of the body.

Avoid loud conversations in temples and sacred sites to maintain a respectful atmosphere.

Be mindful of public displays of affection, as these can be frowned upon in more traditional areas.

Always use polite gestures, like a gentle nod or the Thai “wai” (bow with hands together), when greeting or thanking people.

Be cautious with alcohol in public spaces some places have restrictions, and drinking on temple grounds is strictly prohibited.

Don’t litter; Thailand places high value on clean and well-kept public spaces.
